How to Purchase MOC Parts from Multiple Stores
Rebrickable is a great resource for Lego fans who want to build other people’s custom creations, or share their own. The site itself doesn’t sell Lego parts, but it does link out to the Bricklink and BrickOwl platforms who do.
While Bricklink and BrickOwl are wonderful, buying all the required parts can be a daunting task, especially if you need to purchase them from multiple stores. Fortunately, these sites have features that can simplify this process for you.
Add to a Bricklink Wanted List or a BrickOwl Wish List
On the Rebrickable side, there are two buttons in the “Buy Parts” section of each model:
If you have an account with either Bricklink or BrickOwl, you can add the whole parts list to your wanted or wishlists.
After adding them to your account, you can use Bricklink or BrickOwl’s features to complete your purchase. For this example, I’ve added the parts for my Moff Gideon Brickheadz MOC to a Bricklink wanted list.
Bricklink’s wanted lists have an Easy Buy feature that tries to find the cheapest option for you:
While “Easy Buy” takes parts cost into account to find the cheapest option, it doesn’t look at shipping fees. For finer control over which stores you buy from, such as country location to reduce shipping costs, open a Bricklink wanted list and click the “Buy All” option.
The “Buy All” features has filters and allows you to select stores yourself or use “Auto-select” to pick the best ones based on your filters.
Similarly, BrickOwl has a wishlist buying tool to help you buy across multiple BrickOwl stores.
The Multi-Buy Feature
Multi-Buy helps you purchase the parts from multiple stores across multiple platforms simultaneously. You can use the filter options to select if you want to include Bricklink, BrickOwl or independent stores.
To use Multi-Buy, start by finding a model you want to build. Look at the model’s parts list to find the Multi-Buy button:
Clicking that button takes you to this page that has handy instructions to guide you to complete your purchase:
Step 3 in that process can be a little tricky. I would only suggest using the Multi-Buy option if you really want to buy from stores across different platforms.
I hope this article helped explain some options you have for buying parts for Rebrickable MOCs. If you prefer not having to buy a bunch of parts but still want to build cool models, check out my blog post on alternate builds of official sets.
